About Chiiyoro
Hey there!
I’m Rachael, artist & owner of Chiiyoro.
I design and draw cute characters, I think of everything, from their appearance to their favourite colour. I’m inspired by Japanese characters and mascots like those we see from Sanrio, San-X or in animal crossing!
Another big inspiration of mine is animals! I love animals, they are precious lights in our world!
I live in the North-East of England and take Chiiyoro to markets and conventions in the area. I have some health issues like chronic illnesses and mental health issues like anxiety and depression thats why creating small, cute, happy or relatable things for people is so important to me. You're not alone.
What is Chiiyoro?
Chiiyoro [ちいよろ] comes from the joining of two Japanese words “chiisana yorokobi”
[ちいさなよろこび] meaning “little joys.”
Why in Japanese?
I chose to borrow from Japanese language because I love Japan, I’m very inspired by Japanese kawaii & characters.
Why little joys?
I want to use my art to spread joy.
To make something you use or display and whenever you see it, it brings a smile to your face, it reminds you that things maybe aren’t that bad when there are so many cute things in the world.
